Project Description

How can agricultural research truly make a difference if it remains distant from the everyday realities of the field?

This thesis explores the critical gap between scientific research in laboratories (in this case the NRCG i.e.National Research Center for Grapes) and practical fieldwork on farmsspecifically within the context of viticulture in Tasgaon town. It challenges conventional models of agricultural support, reimagining a system that is not only more accessible but also deeply rooted in local realities. At its core, the thesis aims to redefine the agricultural ecosystem by weaving together innovation, empowerment and sustainability into a single, cohesive framework—benefiting not only the farmer but every individual who relies on the food and resources they produce.

The thesis proposes to decentralizes research infrastructure to make it more accessible and responsive; interlinks it with other initiatives to ensure cohesion and continuity; and integrates it into the local context to promote participation and adaptability Natural systems are designed and embedded within built spaces not as separate elements but as functional extensions of daily activity. Materials are locally sourced and drawn from the site’s character but the architectural expression avoids imitation. Instead, it offers a refreshed identity—grounded in context yet open to innovation. Ultimately, it’s about creating a bridge—between science and soil, between people and place.
