Project Description

Project Description

Set within the dense, high-rise context of Bagmane Constellation Tech Park in Bangalore, Toit Bagmane reclaims an underutilized multi-court and transforms it into a vibrant taproom that blends architecture, landscape, and culture. The project is envisioned as more than a hospitality space—it is a spatial narrative that weaves together crafted brews, curated art, and community. The design strikes a careful balance between Toit’s established identity and the unique context of its setting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where every corner encourages exploration.

Layered volumes, open terraces, and immersive garden pockets allow the architecture to spill out organically into its surroundings, making the indoors and outdoors feel continuous. A sculptural staircase anchors the heart of the space, while mezzanine-level nooks provide quieter, elevated views over the buzzing activity below. The structure’s light-filled core is defined by a dramatic pitched roof split by a central skylight—an architectural spine that animates the space with natural light throughout the day.

Material & Construction Details

The material palette is deliberately restrained to allow the spatial textures and design elements to take the spotlight. The primary structure is a steel framework, developed in collaboration with a renowned structural engineer. This exposed skeleton supports a dramatic roofscape that floats above the taproom, made up of Mangalore tiles with glass inserts that bring in filtered daylight.

Warmth is brought into the interiors through the use of tactile materials—exposed brick walls in a monochrome tone, wooden ceiling panels inspired by brewing barrels, and a fishbone-patterned terracotta tile floor with bold black outlining. The flooring transitions subtly between hexagonal tiles and wooden planks, guiding movement while delineating space without hard boundaries. All materials have been selected not only for their aesthetic and tactile quality but also for their durability and sustainability.

Special Features
  • Skylight Spine: The pitched roof is split along its central axis by a skylight that acts as both a design feature and a light modulator. This spine creates a dynamic play of light and shadow, continuously transforming the interiors throughout the day.
  • Glass-filled Mangalore Tiles: These tiles are strategically embedded into the roofscape to filter natural light in a dappled manner, enhancing the ambience while reducing heat and glare.
  • Sculptural Staircase & Mezzanine Nooks: The staircase is not just functional—it’s a focal point that connects levels while doubling as an artful sculptural insert. Elevated mezzanine seating zones provide patrons with secluded corners and layered views.
  • In-and-Out Bar & Garden Integration: The bar extends into the landscape, blurring boundaries and reinforcing the idea of indoor-outdoor fluidity. Pocket gardens and planters are integrated into the architecture, ensuring greenery is never out of sight.
  • Textural Interiors & Artistic Curation: The taproom features custom furniture, curated artwork, and lush greenery, all set against a restrained material palette that lets these expressive elements shine—creating a space that feels rich, immersive, and unmistakably Toit.
