Ar. Nela De Zoysa

Nela’s vast experience covers the areas of Design, Design Development and Construction Management, and ranges from Banks, Educational Buildings to Commercial Complexes, Hotels, Sport Complexes, Personalized Housing, Projects of Renovation and Conservation and Interior Design. Nela de Zoysa, the principal of Design Corp, displayed her artistic creativity from a very early age. Nela excelled in painting by winning many awards and exhibiting her works both nationally and internationally. Her experience in this profession spans well over 20 years in her father’s firm, Justin Samarasekera Associates. Her potential for creativeness and her sharp sense of aesthetics, elevated her to the post of Director of this firm; where she functioned, as it’s Principal Designer for over 12 years. In 1993, she went on to form her own firm, Nela de Zoysa Design Corporation, to bring a fresh approach to Architecture at the turn of the 21st century. Nela has travelled extensively around the world, studying works of Architectural Interest. On the 1st of May 2009the American Institute of Architects honoured her with a Honorary Fellowship, which is the highest honour that is bestowed upon an International Architect living and practicing outside the United States.She is also aFellow member of ARCASIA, Associatemember of the Royal Institute of British Architects, International Associate Member of the Royal Architects Institute of Canada,the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and a life member of the Indian Institute of Interior Designers; Nela has attended numerous international conferences resulting in exposure to diverse cultures

Ar. Rohana Bandara Herath

Architect Rohana Bandara Herath is a Chartered Architect who graduated in BSc (Built Environment) and completed his Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. At present, he is doing his doctoral studies. He has worked for leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy Establishments in Sri Lanka and overseas and contributed to many award-winning projects. Later,he established his own practice in Colombo called RBH Design Group and has done several landmark projects namely: St Mary’s Home for the Aged, Colombo 10, a Meat Processing Factory for Gills Lanka, Amaya City Hotel in Colombo 03, Headquarters for the Visually Handicapped Graduates and Pearl Bay Water park in the Colombo district.

For the last 12 years, Architect Herath is serving as a Juror of the National Construction Excellent Award Committee and for many years, as Juror for Architecture Awards, Student’s Award and the Young Architect Award circles organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. He serves as a Council Member of the Chamber of Construction Industry and a Member of the main Planning Committee of the Urban Development Authority and National Advisory Council of the Construction Industry.

He is an examiner and a Visiting Lecturer for the University of Moratuwa, the University of Kelaniya, the University of Colombo, and the City School of Architecture.

Architect Rohana Bandara Herath is a Fellow Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, Institute of International Management, Institute of Chartered Professional Managers, and a Life member of the International Council of Monuments and Sites and Wildlife and Nature Protection Society. He is also a Green Building Professional and International Associate of the American Institute of Architects.

He is the currently the President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects the Chairman of the City School of Architecture, Colombo, and the Country President of the Architects Council of Asia.

Ar. Rukshan Widyalankara

Ar. Rukshan Widyalankara

Rukshan Widyalankara is a Fellow Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) and is the Immediate Past President of SLIA. He has held posts of Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Secretary, and Senior Vice President (President Elect) at SLIA, while being a Charter Member of Architects Registration Board. Presently reading for M.Phil leading to PhD, he obtained his Masters Degree in Architecture in 1991, Bachelors Degree in 1987 with Second Class Honours (Upper Division), and Diploma in Construction Industry Arbitration. Rukshan is a recipient of numerous awards of excellence; viz. Dr. Justin Samarasekara Award for the Best M.Sc. Dissertation, Award for the Best Postgraduate Student and Sherman de Silva Award for the Most Outstanding Student in Architecture.

Ar. Shayan Kumaradas

Ar. Shayan Kumaradas, a Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, was born in 1971 and hails from the temple town of Nallur, Jaffna, the Northern Peninsula of Sri Lanka. He Completed  Degree in Architecture at the University Of Maratuwa, where he continued his architectural education for the next six years. He excelled in studies winning many academic awards.  He has worked with award winning architects like Nela De Zoysa, Ar C. Anjalendran and then established his own practice in 2006,  He is following his Guru Anjalendran with a ‘Veranda’ practice. Today he runs his architectural consultancy firm, Shayan Kumaradas Chartered Architects, along with a couple of young architects, working on island wide projects. Ar. Shayan also  taught for a short spell at the University of Moratuwa and then at the City School of Architecture Colombo ( CSA )  for 7 years.

Ar. D.H. Wijewardene

Ar D.H. Wijewardene, Sri Lanka

Ar. Wijewardene is currently President, Sri Lanka Institute of Architects and Council Member, Chamber of Construction Industry, Sri Lanka and many more Government institutions. He is B.Sc. (Built Environment), and M. Sc. in Architecture both from University of Moratuva, Sri Lanka. He also holds Diploma in Project Management from Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. He is the managing partner of DH WIJEWARDENE ASSOCIATES, Chartered Architects and Engineers. He has also been Head of Pier Review Team and Muscat and Salala International Airports, Oman, 2008. Ar. Wijewardene is a visiting faculty in number of institutions and has been on the Jury panel of many awards in the field of Architecture.
