Rebecca Gurung, has Bachelor in Architecture degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1991. Served the Royal Government of Bhutan as the first Architect of Bhutan for five years.In 1997 established Zorig Consultancy Pvt. Ltd , Architectural and Engineering Consultancy firm . Served the company as the CEO and Principal Architect till 2012.Contested in the Second Parliamentary Election of Bhutan in 2013.Presently is the Vice President of Bhutan Institute of Architects (BIA), Technical Adviser to RENEW (Respect Educate Nurture Empower Woman) NGO and Bhutan Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BOWE) NGOs in Bhutan, Board member of Sangchen Ogyen Tsuklag Monastery, Khedrup Foundation ,Principal designer of Bhairav Kund Temple Complex Eastern Bhutan,Hindu Samudaya of Bhutan , Design adviser for “Happiness Center” at Bumthang, Bhutan for Gross National Happiness Center (GNHC).

Ar. Dorji Yangki

Ar. Dorji Yangki is one of the first female architects from Bhutan. She was a Fellow at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University in 2008-2009, has a Masters from the University of York and an Architecture degree from Deakin University in Australia. She was Chief Architect at the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs for 16 years. She drafted Bhutan’s first National Regulations for safeguarding heritage sites in Bhutan, worked on Bhutan’s first Green Building Guidelines and coordinated the drafting of the Bhutanese Architecture
Guidelines that guides new construction in Bhutan for the Ministry of Works of Bhutan.

She was President of the Bhutan Institute of Architects and was the first female Chair of SAARCH (South Asian Architects). To establish the first degree for architecture in Bhutan she guided the curriculum at the Royal University of Bhutan. At present, she works as Principal
Architect in her own firm in Bhutan. As a native from Bhutan, a country that follows the principle of ‘GNH’ or Gross National Happiness, Ar. Dorji advocates for sustainable Biophilic design and planning that has a sense of place, connects people to nature and helps to create wellbeing and happiness.
