Jacqueline Catherine Namayanja, born on December 14, 1985, is a Ugandan architect, deeply committed to sustainable architecture and community development. Graduating from Makerere University, class of 2011, Jacqueline has excelled in managing diverse projects, specializing in cultural, hospitality, educational, residential, a nd commercial sectors.

With a passion for uplifting the lowest-income communities, Jacqueline envisions transforming ‘slums’ into sustainable and affordable living spaces, utilizing modern and rudimentary technology. Her skill set includes architectural and interior design, restoration projects, landscaping, and proficiency in various design software.

Jacqueline’s professional journey began at J.E Nsubuga & Associates, where she played a key role in projects such as the Kasubi Royal Tombs Reconstruction and residential and commercial designs. Later, she ventured into academia, teaching architectural design theory and history at the International University of East Africa.

Since establishing her own architectural practice in 2017, Jacqueline has contributed to numerous residential and commercial projects, emphasizing attention to detail and environmental considerations.

Simultaneously, she has taken on leadership roles, serving as a committee member on the Board of Practice, later as Vice President and currently as the President of the Uganda Society of Architects and the President of the East Africa Institute of Architects, 2023-2024.

In this capacity, she leads initiatives like the CSR project for vulnerable children in Mukono, showcasing her commitment to community service

She also recently chaired the Jury of the National Building Control Awards, an initiative of the National Building Review Board (NBRB) and the Uganda National Action on Physical Disability (UNAPD) , a team of over 21 technical experts of the built environment.
She is also part of the Jury of the AAK Duracoat Architectural Awards due to be held in Nairobi Kenya on 29th Feb, 2024.

Jacqueline’s bio reflects not only professional achievements but also her dedication to making a positive impact on society through sustainable architecture. Guided by her Christian faith, she sees Christ Jesus as her anchor and guide in all endeavours. Her story is one of dedication, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of a better Uganda and world for all.
